THIS little volume is an attempt to meditate upon the Example and Personal Teaching of our Lord, as they relate to the Clergy. Not indeed that the Holy Scripture is not equally God's word, and as infallibly true in one part as in another; nor that the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles do not contain especial instruction to the stewards of Christ's mysteries; but, that a singular honour attaches to the Personal Example and words of Christ Jesus, and a singular power: A singular honour,-as St. Paul seems to acknowledge, where he distinguishes his own inspired word from that of his Lord, 1 Cor. |
