PSALMS FOR THE PRINCIPAL FEASTS

OF OUR LADY, THE ANGELS, AND THE SAINTS: and for the Sundays within their Octaves and their Octave-days, when such festivals have an Octave.

Anth. 1. Feasts of our Lady. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (alleluia).

2. Feasts of Angels and Saints. Bless the Lord, all ye His Angels: bless Him, all ye His Saints (alleluia).

Ps. 96. Dominus regnavit.

Tthe many isles be glad.

HE Lord hath reigned, let the earth rejoice : let

Clouds and darkness are round about Him: justice and judgment are the establishment of His throne.

A fire shall go before Him: and shall burn His enemies round about.

His lightnings have shone forth to the world: the earth saw and trembled.

The mountains melted like wax, at the presence of the Lord: at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.

The heavens declared His justice: and all peoples saw His glory.

Let them be all confounded that adore graven things and that glory in their idols.

Adore Him, all ye His Angels : Sion heard, and was glad.

And the daughters of Juda rejoiced: because of Thy judgments, O Lord.

For Thou art the most high Lord over all the earth: Thou art exalted exceedingly above all gods.

Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of His Saints, He will deliver them out of the hand of the sinner.

Light is risen to the just and joy to the right of heart.

Rejoice, ye just, in the Lord and give praise to the remembrance of His holiness. Glory &c.

Ps. S. Domine, Dominus noster.

LORD, our Lord: how admirable is Thy Name

in the whole earth!

For Thy magnificence is elevated: above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings Thou hast perfected praise, because of Thine enemies that Thou mayst destroy the enemy and the

avenger.

For I will behold Thy heavens, the works of Thy fingers the moon and the stars which Thou hast founded.

What is man that Thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that Thou visitest him?

Thou hast made him a little less than the Angels, Thou hast crowned him with glory and honour : and hast set him over the works of Thine hands.

Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen moreover the beasts also of the fields.

The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea: that pass through the paths of the sea.

O Lord our Lord: how admirable is Thy Name in the whole earth! Glory &c.

Ps. 14. Domine, quis habitabit.

LORD, who shall dwell in Thy tabernacle? or

who shall rest in Thy holy hill?

He that walketh without blemish: and worketh

justice:

He that speaketh truth in his heart: that hath not used deceit in his tongue :

Nor hath done evil to his neighbour: nor taken up a reproach against his neighbours.

In his eyes the evil-doer is accounted worthless : but he glorifieth them that fear the Lord.

He that sweareth to his neighbour, and deceiveth not: he that hath not put out his money to usury, nor taken bribes against the innocent:

He that doeth these things: shall not be moved for ever. Glory &c.

Ps. 44. Eructavit cor meum.

Y heart hath uttered a good word: I speak my works to the King:

MY

My tongue is the pen of a writer: that writeth swiftly.

Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in Thy lips: therefore hath God blessed Thee for ever.

Gird Thy sword upon Thy thigh: 0 Thou most mighty.

With Thy comeliness and Thy beauty set out: proceed prosperously, and reign.

Because of truth and meekness and justice: and Thy right hand shall lead Thee wonderfully.

Thine arrows are sharp; under Thee shall people fall into the hearts of the King's enemies.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of Thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness. Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: therefore God, Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows.

Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume Thy gar

ments from the ivory houses; out of which the daughters of kings have delighted Thee in Thy glory.

The queen stood on Thy right hand, in raiment of gold; surrounded with variety.

Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear and forget thy people and thy father's house. And the King shall greatly desire thy beauty: for He is the Lord thy God, and Him shall they adore.

And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people: shall entreat thy countenance.

All the glory of the King's Daughter is within: in golden borders, clothed round about with varieties.

After her shall virgins be brought to the King: her neighbours shall be brought to Thee.

They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the King.

Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: Thou shalt make them princes over all the earth. They shall be mindful of Thy Name: throughout all generations.

Therefore shall people praise Thee for ever: yea for ever and ever. Glory &c.

Ps. 149. Cantate Domino.

:

NING to the Lord a new canticle: let His praise be in the Church of the Saints. Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him and let the children of Sion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His Name in choir: let them sing to Him with the timbrel and the psaltery. For the Lord is well pleased with His people: and He will exalt the meek unto salvation.

The Saints shall rejoice in glory: they shall be joyful in their beds.

The high praises of God shall be in their mouth: and two-edged swords in their hands:

To execute vengeance upon the nations: chastisements among the peoples:

To bind their kings with fetters and their nobles with manacles of iron.

To execute upon them the judgment that is written this glory is to all His Saints. Glory &c.

Ant. 1. Feasts of Our Lady. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb (alleluia).

2. Feasts of Angels and Saints. Bless the Lord, all ye His Angels: bless Him, all ye His Saints (alleluia).

After the lesson and hymn proper to the feast, conclude as below.

After the Psalms, Lesson, and Hymn, say:

V. Let my prayer be directed, O Lord :
R. Like incense in Thy sight.

The Canticle of Zacharias.
