forth fruit. The heart is perverse above all things and unsearchable, who can know it? I, the Lord, who search the heart, and prove the reins: who give to every one according to his way, and according to the fruit of his devices. (Jer. 17.)

wisdom and is rich in prudence: The purchasing thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and her fruit than the chiefest and purest gold she is more precious than all riches: and all the things that are desired, are not to be compared with her. Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory. Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceable. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold of her: and he that shall retain her is blessed. The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; hath established the heavens by prudence. By His wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew. My son, let not these things depart from thine eyes; keep the law and counsel: and there shall be life to thy soul, and grace to thy mouth. Then shalt thou walk confidently in thy way, and thy foot shall not stumble; if thou sleep, thou shalt not fear: thou shalt rest, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, nor of the power of the wicked falling upon thee: for the Lord will be at thy side, and will keep thy foot that thou be not taken. (Prov. 3.)

HYMN. Hominis superne Conditor.

AKER of man, from heaven, Thy throne,

MWho order'st all things, God alone:

By whose decree the teeming earth
To reptile and to beast gave birth :

The mighty forms that fill the land,
Instinct with life at Thy command,
Thou gav'st subdued to humankind
For service in their rank assigned.
From all Thy servants chase away
Whate'er of thought impure to-day
Would mingle with the heart's intent,
Or with the actions would be blent.
In heaven, Thine endless joys bestow,
But grant Thy gifts of grace below:
From chains of strife our souls release;
Bind fast the gentle bands of peace.
O Father, what we ask be done
Through Jesus Christ, Thine only Son;
Who with the Holy Ghost and Thee,
Doth live and reign eternally. Amen.

For the Lord is great, and exceedingly to be praised: He is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens.

Praise and beauty are before Him: holiness and majesty in His sanctuary.

Bring to the Lord, O ye kindreds of the Gentiles, bring to the Lord glory and honour: bring to the Lord glory unto His Name.

Bring up sacrifices, and come into His courts: adore the Lord in His holy court.

Let all the earth be moved at His presence: say ye among the Gentiles, The Lord hath reigned.

For He hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: He will judge the people with justice.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof; the fields and all things that are in them shall be joyful. Then shall all the trees of the woods rejoice before

the face of the Lord, because He cometh: because He cometh to judge the earth.

He shall judge the world with justice and the people with His truth. Glory &c.

(EE my humiliation and deliver me: for I have not forgotten Thy law :

Judge my cause and redeem me: quicken me for Thy word's sake.

Salvation is far from sinners: because they have not sought Thy justifications.

Many, O Lord, are Thy mercies: quicken me according to Thy judgment.

Many are they that persecute me, and afflict me : but I have not declined from Thy testimonies.

I beheld the transgressors, and I pined away : because they kept not Thy word.

Behold I have loved Thy commandments, O Lord : quicken me Thou, in Thy mercy.

The beginning of Thy words is truth: all the judgments of Thy justice are for ever. Glory &c.

Ps. 118., pt. 21. Principes.

RINCES have persecuted me without cause:

pand my heart hath been in awe of Thy words.

I will rejoice at Thy words: as one that hath found great spoil.

I have hated and abhorred iniquity: but I have loved Thy law.

Seven times a day I have given praise to Thee: for the judgments of Thy justice.

:

Much peace have they that love Thy law and to them there is no stumbling-block.

I looked for Thy salvation, O Lord: and I loved Thy commandments.

My soul hath kept Thy testimonies: and hath loved them exceedingly.

I have kept Thy commandments and Thy testimonies: because all my ways are in Thy sight. Glory &c.
