F. AND J. RIVINGTON, LONDON; PARKER, OXFORD; J. AND J.

DEIGHTON, AND GREEN, CAMBRIDGE.

1846.

PREFACE.

THE Sunday School Magazine has now reached the completion of its first volume, and is offered to the Public, with the thanks of the Editors to their friends, both of the Clergy and Laity, who have either contributed to its pages, or assisted its circulation. They also acknowledge many valuable suggestions from the Clergy and Sunday School Teachers. It will be seen that some have been already adopted, and others are to be introduced into the New Volume, for which the same kind interest and sympathy, as heretofore, is earnestly requested.

SOME Friends have suggested the publication of a periodical, more particularly adapted for the use of Teachers. The Editors have had the subject under consideration, and are now prepared to announce the first number of the "CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER'S MANUAL," which will appear on the 1st of January, 1847, and be continued Monthly.

As both these works are undertaken in the hope of doing good, rather than of profit or emolument, the Editors feel little scruple in asking for the co-operation of the Clergy, in any way in which they may be able to forward the cause of Education and the Church.

AND so they cast their very humble offering into the common treasury of Christian love and zeal, out of which flow all good works, to the glory and praise of God.

LEEDS, December, 1846.
