51 Mas esto no lo dijó de sí mismo; sino que siendo sumo Pontífice aquel año, profetizó que Jesus había de morir por la nacion.

51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

53 Así que desde aquel dia consultaban juntos como matarle.

54 Por lo que Jesus ya no andaba publicamente entre los Judios, mas fuese de allí á un territorio junto al desierto á una ciudad, llamada Ephraim. Y se estaba allí con sus discípulos.

55 Y la Pascua de los Judios estaba cerca, muchos de los Judios subieron á Jerusalem antes de la Pascua para purificarse.

56 Y buscaban á Jesus, y hablaban los unos con los otros estando en el templo. ¿Qué os parece? ¿no vendrá á la fiesta?

57 Y los Príncipes de los Sacerdotes, y los Phariseos habían dado mandamiento, que si alguno sabía en donde estaba, lo manifestase para prenderle.

CAPITULO XII.

Jis Pascua vino á Bethania, en

ESUS pues seis dias antes de

donde estaba Lázaro, el que había muerto, al cual Jesus había resucitado de entre los muertos.

2 Y le hicieron allí una cena, y Marta servía, y Lázaro erá uno de los que estaban sentados á la mesa juntamente con él.

3 Entonces María tomó una libra de ungüento de nardo puro, y ungió los pies de Jesus, y limpióle los pies con sus cabellos, y se llenó la casa del olor del ungüento.

53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

55 And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?

57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.

CHAPTER XII.

THEN Jesus six days before the THE passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Y dijó uno de sus discípulos, Judas Iscariotes el que le había de entregar.

5 ¿Porqué no se ha vendido este ungüento por tres cientos denarios, y dado á los pobres?

6 Mas él dijó esto, no por el cuidado que tenía de los pobres; sino porque erá ladron, y tenía la bolsa, y llevaba lo que se echaba en ella.

7 Entónces Jesus dijó: Dejala; para el dia de mí sepultura ha guardado esto.

8 Porque á los pobres siempre los tendréis con vosotros, mas á mí no siempre me tendréis.

9 Entonces muchos de los Judios entendieron, que él estaba allí, y vinieron no solamente por causa de Jesus, sino tambien por ver á Lázaro, al cual había resucitado de entre los muertos.

10 Y los Príncipes de los Sacerdotes consultaron tambien para matar á Lázaro.

11 Porque muchos de los Judios por causa de él, se iban, y creían en Jesus.

12 El dia siguiente un gran número de gente, que había venido á la fiesta, cuando oyeron que Jesus venía á Jerusalem,

13 Tomaron ramos de palmas, y salieron á recibirle, y clamaban: Hosanna, Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor, el Rey de Israel.

14 Y halló Jesus un jumentillo, y se sentó sobre él como está escrito:

15 No temas Hija de Sion: He aquí tu Rey, que viene sentado sobre un pollino de una asna.

16 Mas estas cosas no las entendieron sus discípulos al principio: empero cuando Jesus fué glorificado, entonces se acordáron, que estas cosas estaban escritas de él, y que le hicieron estas cosas.

17 Y la gente que estaba con él daba testimonio, de cuando llamó

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not al

ways.

9 Much people of the Jews there fore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 ¶ On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus

18 Por lo que las gentes tambien vinieron á recibirle, porque habían oido, que él había hecho este milagro.

19 Mas los Phariseos digeron entre sí, ¿no veis que nada adelantais? He aquí que todo el mundo se va tras él.

20 Y había allí algunos Griegos, de los que habían subido á adorar en el dia de la fiesta.

21 Estos pues se llegaron á Felipe, que erá de Bethsaida de Galiléa, y le rogaron, diciendo ; Señor, quisieramos ver á Jesus.

22 Vinó Felipe, y lo dijó á Andres. Entonces Andres y Felipe lo digeron á Jesus.

23 Y Jesus les respondió: diciendo, Ha venido la hora, en que el Hijo del hombre ha de ser glorificado. 24 En verdad, en verdad os digo: que si el grano que cae en tierra no muriese, queda solo; mas si muriese, lleva mucho fruto.

25 El que ama su vida, la perderá, y el que aborrece su vida en este mundo, para vida eterna la guardará.

26 El que me sirve, sigame; y donde yo estuviere, allí estará tambien mi siervo. El que me sirviere, mi Padre le honrará.

27 Ahora mi alma está turbada. ¿Y que diré? Padre, salvame de esta hora: mas por esto he venido á esta hora.

28 Padre, glorifica tu nombre. Entonces vinó una voz del cielo, diciendo: Ya he glorificado, y le glorificaré otra vez.

29 Y las gentes que estaban presentes, y la habían oido, decían que había sido trueno; otros decían un ángel le ha hablado.

30 Respondió Jesus, y dijó: No ha venido esta voz por mi causa, sino por causa de vosotros.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 T And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life. eternal.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Ahora es el juicio de este mundo: ahora el príncipe de este mundo será echado fuera.

32 Y si yo fuere levantado de la tierra, á todos atraheré á mí mismo.

33 Y esto decía, dando á entender de que muerte había de morir. 34 Respondióle la gente: nosotros habemos oido de la Ley: que el Christo permanece para siempre, ¿como pues dices tú: Conviene que el Hijo del hombre sea levantado? ¿quién es este Hijo del hombre? 35 Entónces les dijó Jesus: Aun un poco de tiempo estará la luz entre vosotros: andad entretanto que teneis luz, no sea que las tinieblas os alcanzen, porque el que anda en tinieblas, no sabe adonde va. 36 Entretanto que teneis la luz, creed en la luz, paraque seais hijos de la luz. Estas cosas habló Jesus, y fuese, y escondióse de ellos.

37 Mas aunque había hecho tantos milagros delante de ellos, no creían en él.

38 Paraque se cumpliese la palabra del Profeta Isaías, que dijó: ¿Señor, quién ha creido nuestra palabra? ¿y el brazo del Señor á quién ha sido revelado?

39 Por esto no podían creer: Porque otra vez dijó Isaías:

40 Cegó los ojos de ellos, y endurecióles el corazon, porque no vean con sus ojos, ni entiendan con su corazon, y se conviertan, y los sane.

41 Estas cosas dijó Isaías cuando vió su gloria, y habló de él.

42 Con todo esto aun de los Príncipes muchos creyeron en él: Mas por causa de los Phariseos no le confesaban, por no ser echados de la sinagoga:

43 Porque amaban mas la gloria de los hombres, que la gloria de Dios.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto

me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you.

Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 ¶ Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Mas Jesus clamó, y dijó: el que cree en mí, no cree en mí, sino en aquel que me envió.

45 Y el que me ve á mí, ve al que me envió.

46 Yo he venido luz al mundo, paraque todo aquel que cree en mí, no permanezca en tinieblas.

47 Y si alguno oye mis palabras, y no creyere, yo no le juzgo; porque no vine á juzgar al mundo, sino á salvar al mundo.

44 ¶ Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and re

gue: la palabra que he hablado, ella le juzgará en el dia postrero.

49 Porque yo no he hablado de mí mismo; mas el Padre que me envió, él me dió mandamiento de lo que tengo de hablar.

that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

2 Y acabada la cena, como el diablo hubiese ya metido en el corazon de Júdas hijo de Simon Iscariotes, que le entregase;

3 Sabiendo Jesus que el Padre le había dado todas las cosas en las manos, y que había salido de Dios, é ibá á Dios.

4 Levantose de la cena, y se quitó sus vestiduras, y tomando una toalla se ciñó.

5 Echó despues agua en un lebrillo, y comenzó á lavar los pies á los discípulos, y á limpiarlos con la toalla, con que estaba ceñido.

CHAPTER XIII.

OW before the feast of the pass

Now

over, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved

them unto the end.

2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

5 After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
