-Faith a belief in the Divine testimony-Objections against this view of
the nature of faith-An intellectual assent to Scripture not sufficient
III. THE OBJECT AND WORK OF FAITH.
The Gospel message which we are to believe-Gratitude and love to God its
natural results-Faith leads to submission and prayer-Produces courage
and fortitude-Enables the afflicted and the persecuted to endure-Gives
strength to the timid and the weak

Their faith different to ours in its extent and object-Enoch-Noah-Rahab
-Their faith not faulty or defective-Different because their revelation
was less full than ours-Faith in Christ essential to our salvation-This
requirement not arbitrary, but necessary
