dom, by the merits of the most precious Death and Passion of Thy dear Son. And we most humbly beseech Thee, O heavenly Father, so to assist us with Thy grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good works as Thou hast prepared for us to walk in ; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

Gloria in Excelsis.

GLORY be to God on high, and in earth peace, good-will towards men. We praise Thee, we bless Thee, we worship Thee, we glorify Thee, we give thanks to Thee for Thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty.

O Lord, the only-begotten Son Jesu Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us.

For Thou only art holy; Thou only art the Lord; Thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The Peace and Blessing.

HE Peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in

the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the Blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you always. Amen.

Thanksgivings after Communion. To be used before or after the Post Communion, as time will permit.

No. I.

LORD our Father, Thou hast lovingly

Son, to share in the Oblation which He offers to Thee. Thou hast lovingly allowed me to share in the joy which reigns over it. Thou hast lovingly allowed me to share in His strength and holiness, by again giving Him to us.

Allow me now, for Thy dear love, to go forth to glorify Thee in my life, in all the good works which Thou hast prepared for me to walk in ; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

No. 2.

LORD God Almighty, Who hast deigned to receive me at Thy Table; grant that this sacred Communion in the Body and Blood of Thy dear Son may be my guide and my food for my journey through life. May it be to me a consolation when I am harassed, a fountain of happy love in time of exultation, of patience in tribulation and distress. By these sacred Mysteries grant to me a right faith, a firm hope, and ardent love for Thee.

Grant me strength to renounce the world, most tender sympathy for the Passion of my Lord, and such purity of desire that my unruly will and affections may only seek that which Thou dost promise.

And if it please Thee to renew this gift to me when my departure is near at hand, grant that I may then receive it with certain hope, and sure confidence in Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

No. 3.

WEd, for the participation in Thy holy,

E give thanks to Thee, O sovereign Lord

spotless, immortal, and heavenly Mysteries, which Thou hast given to us for the benefit, and sanctification, and salvation of our souls and bodies. We pray and beseech Thee, O good Lord, for Thy love to us, grant that this Communion of the holy Body and precious Blood of Thy onlybegotten Son may secure for us faith that maketh not ashamed, love unfeigned, the fulness of piety, the putting the adversary to flight, the accomplishment of Thy commandments, the provision for eternal life, and an acceptable plea at the awful tribunal of Thy Christ; through Whom, and with Whom, be glory and strength to Thee and to the Holy Ghost for ever. Amen.

GREAT King, Who rulest with the Father, Who by Thy strength didst despoil hell, and didst tread death under Thy feet, Who didst bind the strong man, and raise up human nature from the tomb by Thy Divine power, and by the light-giving splendour of Thy ineffable Godhead; we beseech Thee, O Lord, by the Communion of Thy spotless Body and precious Blood, do

H

Thou stretch forth Thy invisible right hand full of blessings, and bless us all. Have pity on us, strengthen us by Thy Divine power, take from us all evil and sinful working of fleshly desire, clear the eyes of our understanding from the blinding darkness of sin, and unite us to the blessed company of those that are well-pleasing to Thee; to Whom, with the Father and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and strength, and worship and thanksgiving, now and for ever. Amen. (Lit. S. Mark.)

No. 4.

GIVE Thee thanks, O Lord, holy Father, Almighty, Eternal God, Who hast renewed me by the participation of the most holy Body and Blood of Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ. And I pray that this Sacrament of our salvation which I, a most unworthy sinner, have received, may not turn to my condemnation, as I have justly deserved; but that it may be to the perfecting of body and soul for eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Lit. Sarum.)

No. 5.

HANKS be to Thee, most loving Lord Jesus Christ, Who art the true Light, the Salvation of the faithful, the Consolation of the sad, the Hope of all, the Joy of Angels, for that Thou hast condescended this day to feed me Thy servant, miserable and great sinner that I am, with Thy most holy Body and Blood. I implore Thee, O Lord, that this awful and incomprehensible. Communion may bring down no judgment upon me, but may so protect me against all the snares of evil, that henceforth no

iniquity may hold rule in my heart, my body, my soul, or my senses; until I come to the everlasting festival of heaven, through Thy merits. Amen. (Lit. Sarum.)

No. 6.

THOU blessed Jesus, Who hast this day vouchsafed to come under my roof, I most humbly beseech Thee, leave me not, but Abide with me for ever.

Precious above the price of the whole world is every moment in which Thou speakest to my soul; oh, increase those moments, I beseech Thee, and

Abide with me for ever.

Abide with me, Lord, for without Thee this world's light, and all its purest joys, have but a false glare, cold and comfortless to my soul. With Thee, Who art Light and Love, All darkness is Light and Joy.

Abide with me, Lord, in all I think, say, do, fear, hope, and enjoy.

I fear my own unsteadfastness. Abide with me, Lord, and unite me to Thyself.

The foe is strong, and I, through my sins, am very weak. Abide with me, Lord, and be

Thou my strength.

I am ever subject to ebb and flow, and change.

Abide with me, Lord, with Whom is no change.

The pleasures of the world lead me from Thee.

Abide with me, Lord, and be my joy.

The troubles of this world would shake my endurance.
