6 Gracious Lord preferve us, we beseech thee, from all things that may injure us, particularly from Sin the greatest of Evils, from the devices and temptations of Satan, 'from thy difpleasure, and its confequences, eternal punishment.

8 Keep us we beseech thee O Lord from Fornication and all other abominable Uncleannefs; and from all the deceitful allurements of the wicked World of disorderly Affection, or of Satan the great Adverfary of Mankind.

9 And as we have implored thy merciful prefervation O Lord from fuch Things as may hurt the Soul, fo we beseech thee to grant us thy protection against whatfoever may injure the Body, fuch as deftructive ftorms by Sea and Land, peftilential Difeafes, and Dearth of Food; War, Murder, and unprepared fudden Death.

10 Defend us alfo, good God, from the woeful Dif orders of Faction and Licentioufnefs, from fecret Plots and open Rebellion; from Doctrines which are not according to thy Truth, from divifions and feparations in the Church which are inconfiftent with Chriftian Uni

ty; from impenitent hardness of Heart, and a contemptuous difregard to thy holy Commandments.

Gracious Lord hear thefe our fupplications, for the fake of that great mystery of Religion, God manifeft in the flesh; for the fake of Jefus Chrift's humble Birth, and patient Circumcifion; for the fake of his fubmiffion to Baptifm, in order to fulfil all Righteoufnefs-to Fafting, that we might learn to mortify our fenfual defires; and to Temptation, that we might be inftructed by his example how to overcome the Tempter.

12 But hear us more especially we beseech thee O Lord for the fake of thofe bitter forrows which the Son of God endured in the Garden, and upon the Crafs, for our Salvation; for the fake of his death and burial, by which he overcame Death; for the fake of his triumphant Resurrection and Afcenfion into Heaven, by which he hath opened unto us the Gate of everlafting Life; and for the fake of that bleffed Spirit which he fent upon his Apostles at first, and which he hath promifed fall be with his Church, as a Comforter and Advocate for ever.

13 For the fake of these wonderful Things, which Chrift Jefus hath wrought for us, be thou our Protector and Deliverer in Adverfity and Profperity, at the Time of our departure out of this World, and at the Day when an eternal fentence shall be passed upon us.

14 As we have implored thy deliverance, O merciful God, from the fpiritual and temporal Evils of this Life: fo we now offer up our petitions to thee for fuch Things as are needful for us and our fellow Creatures. And firft, we thy unworthy Servants, befeech thee to protect the universal Church of Christ, and guide it into all Truth.

19 Grant O Lord, we beseech thee, all orders of the Clergy a right understanding of thy Word; and give them Grace to prove the perfection of their knowledge by the excellency of their Doctrines, and the purity of their Lives.

20 Endue the Lords of the King's Privy Council, and all the Nobility of this Realm, with judgement to difcern the true interefts of their Country; with Wisdom to form fuch meafures as are most for its advantage; and with religion and integrity, steadily to pursue them.

21 We befeech thee good Lord, to afford thy bleffing and protection to all who are put in truft for the execution of the Laws of this Kingdom, and give them Grace to adminifter Juftice impartially to all Men;

and faithfully to fupport the cause of Truth and Virtue.

23 Let peace, harmony, and unity prevail through the World.

24 Create in us, O Lord, fuch an ardent Love, and filial Fear of thee as will excite us to keep thy Commandments diligently.

28 Gracious God, deliver, affift, and relieve all that are in peril, want, or affliction.

29 Let thy good Providence watch over and fupport

all Travellers, all Women in Child-birth; all that are in the helpless condition of Sickness or Infancy; and comfort all fuch as are deprived of liberty through War or any other Calamity.
