Tim Hornbaker is a lifelong sports historian and enthusiast. His books Turning the Black Sox White: The Misunderstood Legacy of Charles A. Comiskey and War on the Basepaths: The Definitive Biography of Ty Cobb were received with critical acclaim. He lives in Tamarac, Florida.

Jimmy Snuka was born James Wiley Smith in the Fiji Islands in 1943. After moving to the United States, he became one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling in the 1970s and '80s. He was known as Superfly. He was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 1996. In 1983, his mistress, Nancy Argentino, was found beaten to death in a hotel room they had shared in Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania. The case went cold for 32 years until the publication of Snuka's autobiography, Superfly: The Jimmy Snuka Story, in 2012. At this point, The Morning Call, a newspaper in Allentown, raised new questions about the case including the discovery that Snuka had told five people that Argentino had suffered a head injury after he pushed her and that Argentino's family won $500,000 in a wrongful-death lawsuit against him that Snuka never paid. He was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in 2015. The murder charge was thrown out after he was declared mentally unfit to stand trial because he suffered from dementia. He died on January 15, 2017 at the age of 73.
