TRELANE ENGAGES A SERVANT.

AND now Trelane was more than ever resolved to carry out his determination of proceeding at once to Bourges and endeavouring to find some clue to the hiding-place of those two English ladies. He now saw the character of Alexis in a new and most unsatisfactory light. He was convinced that the suspicion which he had originally formed was correct. He could no longer doubt that d'Elmar was resolved to keep both these ladies in close retirement, for some purpose of his own; and what might that purpose be?
