"These loaves, in number twelve, representing the twelve tribes of Israel, were placed every Sabbath day before the Lord in the Temple. Incense was burnt, when they were set on afresh. Besides these Loaves stood a Vessel of Wine, and when the Loaves were changed, the Wine was poured out as a Libation before the Lord."-Calmet.

In this feast, the Jews partook of the Lamb, that had been sacrificed, also of the offering of fine flour and of the offering of wine.

After this Supper Jesus instituted the Holy Sacrament.
