THE SHEW-BREAD, OR BREAD OF MEMORIAL.

"These loaves, in number twelve, representing the twelve tribes of Israel, were placed every Sabbath day before the Lord in the Temple. Incense was burnt, when they were set on afresh. Besides these Loaves stood a Vessel of Wine, and when the Loaves were changed, the Wine was poured out as a Libation before the Lord."-Calmet.

"And He took the loaves, and looking up to heaven, He blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to His Disciples, and the Disciples to the multitude."

THE LAST SUPPER.

"With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer."

In this feast, the Jews partook of the Lamb, that had been sacrificed, also of the offering of fine flour and of the offering of wine.

Leviticus xxiii. 13.

After this Supper Jesus instituted the Holy Sacrament.

"Our Lord Jesus Christ, taking Bread in His holy and spotless and pure and immortal hands, and looking up to Heaven, and shewing it to Thee, His God and Father, He gave thanks, and hallowed, and brake, and gave to His Apostles and Disciples."
