The Snake Fish is about two feet six inches long, and an inch and a half in diameter ; of a dark brown colour on the upper part, underneath of dull yellow, studded with dark spots ; the head is very soft, snout flattened, eyes small, and near the point of the jaw. The greatest singularity connected with this fish is, that its heart will continue to move' several hours after the fish is dead.
