The lease of the former office having expired, other premises (Expenditure to 31st March 1906 - - 317 12 6
affording more accommodation for the constantly increasing business were taken, and expenditure incurred in fitting up,&c
The increase in the business transacted at this office rendered enlarged accommodation imperative. Somerooms formerly sub-let have been adapted for official purposes and other alterations made.
Due to extra pressure of business at Christmas.
The accommodation was insufficient, and the sanitary condition unsatisfactory. Extension and improvement were imperative.
Alterations had to be undertaken with a view to affording more space for sorting work, the need for which was very urgent.

Preliminary expenditure in connection with the new sorting office, provision for which is made in the estimates for 1906 7. height. The bulk of the expenditure falls upon the year 1906–7.
This work had to be carried out in order to provide much-needed additional accommodation.
