A.—Saving—Casual.
B.—Saving in travelling expenses of Assistant Surveyors, due to temporary decrease in number of cases of
Grants for National Schools.

C.—Saving due mainly to decreased expenditure for Advertising.
D.—Saving is attributable to the decrease in the number of applications for loans during the year.

2. A sum of 19,6371. has been paid to the Exchequer in repayment of the o: Manage

of the Department in connection with the administration of the Local Loans Fund, †. -artly out of the Income of that Fund, and partly out of the receipts by the Public Local Loans orks Loan Commissioners in excess of the amount appropriated in aid of their Vote.

This sum of 19,637 l. forms part of the total amount of 31,357l. 3s. 11d., to which reference is made in paragraph 2 of my Report on Class II, Vote 21.

NON-VOTED SERVICES. - 3. Appended to this Report is a Statement, prepared by the Board of Works, showing Non-voted
