To When Jefus heard it he mar velled, and faid to them that followed, Verily I fay unto you, I have not found fo great faith, no, not in Ifrael. 11 And I lay unto you, That ma ny fhall come from the eaft and weft, and fhall fit down with Abra ham, and Ifaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: 12 But the children of the hing dom fhall be caft out into outer darkness; there fhall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 113 And Jefus faid unto the cen turion, Ge thy way; and as thou haft believed, fo be it done unto thee. Then be arofe, and rebuked the winds and the fea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, fayng, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the fea obey him! 30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many fwine feeding. 31 So the devils befought him, faying, If thou caft us out, fuffer us to go away into the herd of fwine. 32 And he said unto them, Go. And, when they were come out, they went into the herd of fwine; and, behold, the whole herd of fwine ran violently down a steep place into the fea, and perished in the waters. 33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing; and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. 34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jefus; and, when they faw him, they befought him that he would depart out of their coafts. II And when the Pharifees faw it, they faid unto his difciples, Why cateth your Mafter with publicans and finners? 12 But when Jefus heard that, he faid unto them, They that be whole need not a phyfician, but they that are fick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not facrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but fingers to repentance. 14 Then came to him the difeiples of John, faying, Why do we and the Pharifees faft oft, but thy disciples faft not? 15 And Jefus faid unto them, Can the children ofthe bride-cham ber mourn as long as the bride. groom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom fhall be taken from them and then fhall they faft, 16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment; for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worfe. 19 And Jefus arofe and follow. ed him, and fo did his difciples. 20 T (And, behold, a woman, which was difeafed with an iffue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment. 21 For the faid within herself, If I may but touch his garment I fhall be whole. 22 But Jefus turned him about; and, when he faw her, he faid, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.) 23 And when Jefus came into the rulers houfe, and faw the minstrels and the people making a noife, 24 He faid unto them, Give place; for the maid is not dead, but deepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25 But when the people were. put forth he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arofe. 26 And the fame thereof went abroad into all that land. 27 1 And when Jefus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and faying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he was conse into the houfe the blind men came to him: and Jetus faith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this. They faid unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, faying, According to your faith 17 Neither do men put new wine be it unto you into old bottles; elfe the bottles 30And their eyes were opened: break, and the wine runueth out, and Jefus ftraitly charged them, and the bottles perish; but they faying, See that no man know it. CHAP. X. The apostles fent out. AND when he had called unto him his twelve difciples, he gave them power again unclean fpirits, to caft them out, and to heal all manner of fickness, and all manner of disease. 2 Now the names of the twelve apoftles are thefe; The firft, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the fon of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the fan of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whofe furname was Thaddeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Ifcariot, who also betrayed him. 6 But go rather to the loft sheep of the house of Ifrael. 7 And, as yego, preach, faying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Healthe fick, cleanfe the lepers, raife the dead, caft out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. 9 Provide neither gold, nor fil. ver, nor brafs, in your pufes 10 Nor fcrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither fhoes, nor yet ftaves: for the work man is worthy of his meat. 11 And into whatfoever city or town ye fhall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an houfe, alute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whofoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city thake off the duft of your feet 15 Verily I say unto you, It fhal be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment than for that city. 16 Behold, I fend you forth as heep in the midst of wolves: be ye, therefore, wife as ferpents and harmlefs as doves. 17 But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will fcourge you in their fynagogues: 18 And ye fhall be brought before governers and kings For my fake, for a teftimony against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what The apostles comforted. If they h have called the mafter of the houfe Beelzebub, how much more ball they call them of his honfehold? 16 Fear them not, therefore: for there is nothing covered, that fhall not be revealed; and hid, that fhall not be known. 27 What I tell you in darkness, that fpeak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the houfe-tops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the foul: but rather fear him which is able to deftroy both foul and body in hell. 29 Are not two fparrows fold for a farthing and one of them fhall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30% But the very head are all numbered. hairs of your 31 Fearyenot, therefore, ye are of more value than many fparrows. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and be that loveth fon or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his crofs and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39.
