Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Mat. 25. 13.

2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Mat. 5. 16.

3 A stone is heavy,

BOAST not thyself and the sand weighty

of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink : and to morrow shall be as

this day, and much more abundant. Is. 56. 12. Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto

4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy ?

Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes,

because an excellent spirit was in him: and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault: forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his

Open rebuke is better than secret love.

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

If thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. Mat. 18. 15.Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Ti. 5. 20.-When Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. Ga. 2. 11.

He that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whom soever I shall kiss, that same

Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Ti. 6. 6. 8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein

abide with God. I Co. 7. 24.Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you. 1 Th. 4. 11.

9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.

Like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard; that went down to the skirts of his garments. Ps. 133. 2.

How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices! Ca. 4. 10.

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Ro. 12. 15.

10 Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. Lu. 22. 28.

Solomon, my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart, and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth

all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. 1 Ch.

"My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may an

22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.

Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do

Why should ye be stricken and more: the whole head is any more? ye will revolt more sick, and the whole heart faint. 23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.

He that is faithful in that which is least, is faithful also in much. Lu. 16. 10.

24 For riches are not for ever and doth the crown endure to every generation ?

25 The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
