2 Then a lord on whofe hand the king leaned, anfwered the man of God,and faid, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he faid, Behold, thou fhalt fee it with thine eyes, but fhalt not eat thereof.

31 And there were four leprous men at the entring of the gate and they faid one to another, Why fit we here untill we die? 4 If we fay, we will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we fit ftill here, we die 23 And he prepared great provifion for allo. Now therefore come, and let us fall them:and when they had eaten and drunk, unto the hoft of the Syrians: if they fave he fent them away, and they wentto their us alive, we fhall live; and if they kill us, maftes: fo the bands of Syria came no more we fhall but die. into the land of Ifrael.

24 And it came to pafs after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his hoft, and went up, and befieged Samaria. 25 And there was great famine in Samaria: and behold they befieged it, untill an affes head was fold for fourfcore pieces offilver, and the fourth part of a kab of doves dung for five pieces of filver,

5 And they arofe up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

6 For the LORD had made the hoft of the Syrians to hear a noife of chariots, and noife of horfes, even the noife of a great hoft: and they faid one to another, Lo, the

II. Kings. of Ifrael, faying, Now when this letter is Come unto thee, behold, I have therewith fent Naaman my fervant to thee, that thou mayeft recover him of his leprefie.

7 And it came to pafs when the king of Ifrael had read the letter, that he rent his cloathes, and faid, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth fend unto me to recover a man of his leprofie: wherefore confider I pray you, and fee how he fe keth a quarrel against ne.

8. And it was, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Ifrael had rent his cloathes, that he fent to the king, faying, Wherefore haft thou rent thy cloathes? let him come now to me, and he fhall know that there is a Prophet inIfrael, 9 So Naaman came with his horfes, and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the houfe of Elilha.

to And Ehfha fent a meffenger unto him, faying, Go and wash in Jordan feven times, and thy flefh fhall come again unto thee, and thou shalt be clean.

11 But Naaman was wroth & went away, and faid, Behold, I thought, He will furely come out to me, and ftand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and ftrike his hand over the place, and recover the leper 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar rivers of Damafcus, better then all the waters of If rael? may I not wash in them and be clean? So he turned, and went away in a rage.

13 And his fervants came near, and fpake unto him, and faid, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do tome great thing, wouldeft thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he faith to thee, Wafh and be clean?

14. Then went he down,and dipped himfelf feven times in Jordan, according to the faying of the man of God,and his felh came again like unto the flesh of a little childe, and he was clean.

15. And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and ftood before hia: and he faid, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Ifrael: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blefling of thy fervant.

16 But he faid, As the LORD liveth, before whom I ftand, I will receivenone.And he urged him to take it, but he refufed.

17 And Naaman faid, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy fervant two mules burden of earth? for thy fervant will henceforth offer neither burnt-offering, nor facrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy fervant, that when my mafter goeth into houfe of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and 1 bowe my felf in the houfe of Rinumon: when I bowe down my felf in the houfe of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy fervant in this thing.

19 And he faid unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.

20 But Gehazi the fervant of Elifha the man of God, faid, Behold, my mafter Harh fpared Naaman the Syrian, in not re

21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman : and when Naaman law bim running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and faid, Is all well?

22 And he faid, All is well my master hath fent me, faying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the fons of the prophets, give them, I pray thee, a talent of Gilver, and two changes of garments.

23 And Naaman taid, Be content, take two talents: and he urged him, and bound two talents of filver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his fervants,and they bare them before him.

24 And when he came to the tower, he. took them from their hand, and beftowed them in the houfe, and he let the men go, and they departed.

25 But he went in, and ftood before his mafter: and Elitha faidamto him, Whence comet thou, Gehazi? And hefaid, Thy fervant went no whither.

26 And he faid unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive-yards, and vineyards and fheep,and oxen, and men-fervants, and maid-fervants?

27 The leprofie therefore of Naaman fhall cleave on thee, and unto thy feed for ever. And he went out from his prefence a leper as white as fnow.

Elifha, Behold now, the place where
we dwell with thee is too ftrait for us.

2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there where we may dwell. And he anfwered, Go ye.

3. And one faid, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy fervants. And he answered, I will go.

4 So he went with them: and when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

5 But as one was feling a beam, the ax head fell into the water: and he cried, and faid, Alas mafter, for it was borrowed.

6 And the man of God faid, Where fell it ? and he finewed him the place: and he cut down a ftick, and caft it in thither,and the iron did fwim.

7 Therefore faid he, Take it up to thee, And he put out his hand, and took it.

8Then the king of Syria warred a gainft Ifrael, and took counfell with his fervants, faying, In fuch and fuch a place fball be my camp.

9 And the man of God fent unto the king of Ifrael, faying, Beware that thou país not fuch a place; for thither the Sy rians are come down. 10 And

17 And the king appointed the lord on whofe hand he feared, to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had faid, who fpake when the king came down to him.

18 And it came to pafs as the man ofGod had fpoken to the king, faying, Two meafures of barley for a fhekel, and a meafure of fine flour for a fhekel, fhall be to morrow about this time in the gate ofSamaria. 19 And that ford answered the man of God, and faid, Now behold, if the LORD hould make windows in heaven, might fuch a thing be? II And he fetled 'his countenance fted-faltly untill he was afhamed: and the na of God wept.

12 And Hazael faid, Why weepeth my lord? And he aufwered,becaufe I know the evill that thou wilt do unto children of Ifrael: their strong holds wilt thou fet on fire, and their young men wilt thou flay with the fword, and wilt dafh their chil dren, aud rip up their women with childe.

13 And Hazael faid, But what, is thy fervant a dog that fhould do this great thing? And Elisha anfwered, The LORD hath fhewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

18And he walked in the way of the kings of Ifrael, as did thehoufe of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did evill in the fight of the LORD.

19 Yet the LORD would not deftroy Judah, for David his fervants fake, as he promifed him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

20 In his dayes Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themfelves.

21 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he rofe by night and fmote the Edomites which compaled him about, and the captains of chariots, and the people fled unto their tents.

22 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day.ThenLibnah. revolted at the fame time,

23 And the rest of the acts of Joram,& all She did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24 And Joram flept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his fun reigned in his stead.

251 In the twelfth year of Joram the fun of Ahab king of Ifrael,did Ahaziah the fon of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign. 26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign: and he reigned one year in Jerufalem, and his mothers name was Athaliah, the daughter, of Omri king of Ifrael.

27 And he walked in way of the houfe of Ahab, and did evill in the fight of the LORD, as did the houfe of Ahab: for he was the fon in law of the houfe of Ahab.

28 And he went with Joram the fon of Ahab, to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead, and the Syrians Wounded Joram.

29.And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel, of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria: and Ahaziah fon of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to fee Joram the fon of Ahab in Jezreel, becaufe he was fick.

CHAP. IX.

6 And he arofe, and-went into the house, and he poured the oyl on his head, and faid unto him, Thus faith the LORD God of If rael, I have anointed theeking over the people of the LORD, even over Ifrael. 7 And thou fhalt fmite the houfe ofAhab thy mafter, that I may avenge the blood of my fervants the prophets, and the blood of all the fervants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.

8 For the whole houfe of Ahab fhall perifh, and I will cut off from Ahab, him that piffeth against the wall, and him that is fhut up and left in Ifrael.

9 And I will make the houfe of Ahab,like the houfe of Jeroboam the fon of Nebat, like the houfe of Baafha the fon ofAhijah.

10 And the dogs fhall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, & there shall be none to bury her.And he opened the door, and fled.

Then Jehu came forth to the fervants of his lord, and one faid unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he faid unto them, Yeknow the man and his communication.

12 And they faid, It is faffe, tell us now: and he faid, Thus and thus fpake he to me, faying, Thus faith the LORD,I have anoin ted thee king over Ifrael.

13 Then they hafted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top over the ftairs, and blew with trumpets, faying, Jehu is king,

14 So Jehu, the fon of Jehofhaphat, the fon of Nimfhi, confpired against Joram: (now Jorrm had kept Ramoth-gilead,he& all Ifrael, becaufe of Hazael king of Syria,

15 Butking Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel, of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazaelking of Syria)And Jehu faid, If it be your mindes,then let none go forth nor efcape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.

16 So Jehu rode in a chariot,and went to Jezreel, (for Joram lay there) & Ahazial king of Judah was come down to feeJoram

17 And there ftood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he fpied the company of Jehu as he came, and faid, I fee a comNd Elifba the Prophet called one of pany.
