Proceedings of Global Perspectives on Strategic Intellectual Property Management in Business and Science: IP LAB Series: LAB 3Marlena Jankowska, José Geraldo Romanello Bueno, Mirosław Pawełczyk Instytut Prawa Gospodarczego Sp. z o.o., 24 mar 2026 - 85 The IP LAB Series is a publishing initiative of the Center for Design, Fashion and Advertisement Law at the University of Silesia in Katowice. It grows out of our commitment to combine academic reflection with practical insight and to create a space where intellectual property law is explored through experience, dialogue and collaboration. Each volume is rooted in conferences and open seminars that bring together scholars, practitioners, students and representatives of creative industries. The books are also the outcome of one semester of intensive student work developed within our IP LAB. Guided by an empirical approach to intellectual property law, we move beyond purely theoretical analysis and focus on how legal frameworks function in real markets and real creative sectors. The IP LAB Series introduces a distinct business perspective on intellectual property with particular attention to branding and business strategies. We examine how intellectual property rights can be designed, structured and implemented as strategic tools that support innovation, communication and business growth. This third volume broadens the scope beyond creative industries to examine how intellectual property operates across the worlds of business and science. It explores the strategic role of IP in sectors where innovation, technology and commercial strategy intersect — from corporate branding and market positioning to research-driven industries where patents, trade secrets and data protection shape competitive advantage. The contributions reflect on how businesses and scientific institutions alike rely on intellectual property frameworks to protect, communicate and capitalise on their achievements. At the same time, the volume maintains its comparative outlook, studying intellectual property systems across different jurisdictions and disciplines to better understand their diversity and practical implications in an increasingly interconnected global landscape. |
